Oil to water conversion for large high temperature solar thermal array

A University with a large metropolitan campus engaged Bridgeford Group to review an existing oil based solar system serving a High Temperature Heating Hot Water system which has underperformed since day one.

Bridgeford Group spoke with University Staff, reviewed trend data, operation and maintenance manuals and commissioning of the system and identified a number of fundamental flaws in the design and implementation of the project, including that the panels were not tested for use with oil.  Bridgeford Group reviewed a number of options for altering the system so that it could be used to provide a benefit to the University campus, and recommended recommissioning the system using water to provide heat to domestic hot water systems which operate at lower temperatures and for which the panels were designed.

The project is expected to commence design phase in 2021.
